Kay works in a variety of media including oil paint, acrylic and watercolor as well as mixed media. Her artworks can range from delicate portrait studies in graphite to large, bold and expressive public art pieces. She studied Fine Arts and Education of the Fine Arts and has works in collections in the U.S., Canada and abroad.
Oil Study for Ultramarine Refraction is one study of three studies for a triptych project which focuses on the healing power of water - culturally, spiritually and scientifically. While this particular piece is deep and dark, the other two operate at other ends of the spectrum of color and light.
